New Engine 1-12 for BSVFD?

Is this the new Engine that Berkeley Springs Volunteer Fire Dept. is getting? Looks expensive! Still looks like B.S.V.F.D needs more funding to help pay for this engine. That's what the sign in town says.
Is there anyone that can confirm that this is the new Engine? Leave a comment!

  7. Well yes this is our new fire engine, and no we do not have it yet. It will be leaving tomorrow June 26 from the plant in Brandon, South Dakota, to Ebensburg, Pa where it will be getting lettering and striping. Yes it was expensive, of course every fire engine these days is, without the help from fema paying half of it, we would not have been able to buy it. We still need help with paying for it, we still have to buy hose and equipment for it. so any help would be appreciated. As for our current fleet being old, it is we run a 1970 Mack CF Engine, 1975 Mack CF Engine, 1980 Mack CF Engine, 1988 GMC Tanker, and 2001 Freightliner Squad. We are way over due for a new engine. People just dont understand what it takes to run a fire dept, and all of our expenses, for maintanence and fuel etc. especially since we run a lot of fire calls. As for the guy going house to house asking for money, that is legit, he works for a photo co. and we will be having a picture day at the fire station. The new engine should be here in July, after it gets lettered, and striped. It will be displayed in the Baltimore Fire Expo July 21 - July 26, which is a big honor. Well i hope i answered some of your questions.

  21. Listen here we have to have around 250 hours traning to be a qualified firefighter. We don't get paid, we do this to help out our fellow man and we try our best. We risk our lives to save yours day in and day out. Our fleet is old but when you need help what would you rather have a 1970 antique or a brand new 2009 that will start and operate properly? Everyone that climbs on that equipment and rolls out the door to help you deserves a big thank you. Due to the limited funds in the county and the amount of calls we run our budget is very tight, however we're trying the best we can but still we need lots of help from our community, we're always there to help you so how about you all lend a hand to help us so we can greatly help you. =]
